Heating Eusebius church Arnhem
Eusebiuskerk

Sustainability is a major challenge for monumental buildings. Monumental buildings are notorious for their high heat demand, and insulation is often limited due to their historical character. This leaves the option to meet the heat demand as sustainably as possible.

The Eusebius Church in Arnhem has the ambition to become the most sustainable church in the world and aims to achieve this by heating the church building with green hydrogen. Using green hydrogen to heat a monumental church has never been done before. A feasibility study has examined the possibilities. A step-by-step route has been developed, starting with fueling the heaters with 50% green hydrogen and 50% natural gas. Subsequently, it is possible to progress to having all heaters run on 100% green hydrogen.
