Coffee roastery Peeze has the mission to produce coffee in a climate-positive way. A large share of the current CO2 emissions comes from the natural gas required for the coffee roasting process. To switch to a sustainable coffee roasting process, many aspects need to be considered: the remaining lifespan of the current installation, type of sustainable energy source, capacity of grid connections, costs, and market readiness of sustainable coffee roasting installations. HyMatters has conducted a study to assess which type of sustainable energy is suitable to replace natural gas in the coffee roasting process.
